Privacy Policy

Effective May 17, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information WriteToShelf (“we”, “us”) collects from you, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using WriteToShelf you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address. If you sign in with a third-party identity provider, we receive your email and any name you have shared with that provider.

Payment information. Subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We do not store or have access to your full card number. Stripe shares with us a customer reference, your subscription status, and the last four digits of the card.

Usage information. We track which tools you use and how many times each month so we can enforce free-tier limits and improve the product.

Content you submit. When you use a tool you may submit text (such as a blurb or book description) or an image (such as a cover). We process these to return results and may retain them in our database while you are an active user.

How we use your information

  • To operate the service and deliver tool results.
  • To enforce free-tier usage limits and process payments.
  • To send account-related email (sign-in links, receipts, important changes).
  • To debug and improve the product.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your submitted content to train machine-learning models of our own.

Third-party services

We rely on the following third parties to run WriteToShelf. Each one has its own privacy policy.

  • Supabase for authentication and database hosting.
  • Stripe for payment processing.
  • Vercel for application hosting.
  • Resend for transactional email.
  • Google Cloud (Gemini) and OpenAI for generative-model APIs that power some of our tools. The content you submit to a tool may be transmitted to these providers solely to return your result. Both providers state that API content is not used to train their models.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use first-party cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your session. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

Your choices and rights

You can update your email address or password from your account at any time. You can delete your account, which removes your profile, usage history, and submitted content from our database. To delete your account, visit your account settings or email us at the address below.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, including the right to access, correct, or port a copy of your data. To exercise these rights, email us.

Data retention

We keep your account data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your personal information from our active systems within thirty days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or accounting purposes (for example, payment records).

Children

WriteToShelf is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make meaningful changes we will notify you by email or by posting a notice in the app. The effective date at the top of this page will always show when the policy was last revised.
